The aggregate NRR formula
Net Run Rate is the teamโs aggregate runs-scored rate minus its aggregate runs-conceded rate:
Example: 165 from 20.0 overs minus 142 from 20.0 overs = 8.250 โ 7.100 = +1.150.
Convert overs to balls first
Cricket notation is base six. 19.4 means 19 complete overs plus four balls: 118 balls, or 19.6667 overs for division. Treating 19.4 as a decimal produces the wrong rate.
Aggregate the included matches
Under the cited ICC conditions, runs and overs are aggregated across matches with results. NRR is not the simple arithmetic mean of separate match NRR values.
All-out innings and Super Overs
When a team is all out before its full quota, the cited ICC conditions use the full quota it was entitled to face. Super Overs are excluded.
DLS, forfeitures and no-results
The playing conditions prescribe special credited totals for DLS conclusions and forfeitures. A general calculator cannot infer these from a scorecard alone. Use the official adjusted runs and overs or the published table.
Competition rules can differ
Always check the current playing conditions for the exact event. This guide aligns with the ICC Menโs T20 World Cup 2026 conditions and does not claim every competition uses identical rules.
