Frequently Asked Questions

Rates are sourced from ExchangeRate-API and are normally refreshed once per day on the free data service. They are indicative reference rates, not a guaranteed executable customer rate. Banks, card providers and money-transfer services can apply different rates, margins and fees.
A mid-market rate is the midpoint between market buy and sell prices. This calculator displays the reference rate returned by its data provider; it should be treated as an indicative comparison rate rather than a promise of the rate available from a bank or transfer provider.
Select USD in the From field and GBP in the To field, then enter an amount. The applied provider reference rate and inverse rate are shown. Use the swap button to reverse the pair.
The available list is generated from currencies supported by the site and data provider. Obsolete national currencies are excluded from new conversions; availability can change if the provider changes its supported codes.
There is no single cheapest provider for every route or amount. Compare the total recipient amount, applied exchange rate, transfer fee, card or bank charges, delivery time and any receiving fee before choosing a service.
Currency exchange rates change continuously throughout each trading day as global markets open and close. Major pairs like USD/GBP and EUR/USD can move significantly within hours based on economic data releases, central bank announcements and market sentiment. The rates in this converter are updated daily and reflect current market conditions.
Yes. Use the indicative reference result as a comparison point, then check the actual rate and all fees offered by your card issuer, bank, cash bureau or travel-money provider.
Use the converter above to see the latest daily provider reference rate for a supported currency pair. The displayed update date shows the data timestamp returned by the provider; it is not a live tick-by-tick quote.
