Rates used for 2026/27

For eligible employees, Statutory Maternity Pay is normally 90% of average weekly earnings for the first six weeks, followed by up to 33 weeks at £194.32 or 90% of average weekly earnings, whichever is lower. Statutory Paternity Pay and Shared Parental Pay use £194.32 or 90% of average weekly earnings, whichever is lower.

Eligibility is separate from the amount

The calculator estimates pay after you select a leave type and enter earnings. Employment length, notice, qualifying dates, earnings tests and employer policies can affect entitlement. Some employers provide enhanced contractual pay.

How much is Statutory Paternity Pay?
SPP is paid at the lower of 90% of your average weekly earnings or the statutory flat rate (£194.32/week for 2026/27) for up to 2 weeks. You must take paternity leave within 56 days of the birth or adoption.
What is Shared Parental Leave?
SPL allows eligible parents to share up to 50 weeks of leave and 37 weeks of Shared Parental Pay after the mother takes at least 2 compulsory weeks of maternity leave. Both parents can take leave simultaneously or in turns and in up to 3 separate blocks.
Do I qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay?
