Regulation kicks, early clinch and sudden death
The first phase allows five kicks per team. After every kick, the tool compares the score with the kicks remaining and stops once the trailing team cannot catch up. If level after five each, sudden death resolves only after an equal pair of kicks.

Penalty Shootout FAQ
When does the initial five-kick phase end?
Each side can take up to five alternating kicks, but the shootout ends early when the trailing team cannot mathematically draw level with its remaining kicks.
How does sudden death work?
After five kicks each, the shootout continues in equal pairs. A winner is declared only after both teams have taken the same number of kicks and one team leads.
Why might an official shootout differ from this simulator?
Official procedures also cover eligible players, goalkeeper substitutions, misconduct, reductions to equate and kick infringements. This tool models only the score state.
What does random mode model?
Random mode applies a fixed 75% scoring assumption independently to each kick. It is a disclosed entertainment model, not a forecast of real players or teams.
Can I undo a wrongly entered kick?
Use the available control before the result is treated as final. After changing a kick, confirm that the score, kicks remaining and phase have repainted correctly.
Are recent results private?
Up to ten completed results are stored locally in the current browser. They are not sent as analytics values, and clearing site data removes them.
