Editable timing, not a universal prescription

The strength, hypertrophy and endurance presets are starting points. Exercise, load, effort, training goal and the quality of the next set should determine whether the interval is extended or shortened.

The timer uses a target timestamp, so it corrects the displayed time after browser throttling or a temporary background period. Audio, vibration, fullscreen and wake lock depend on browser and device support.

Use the completed set as feedback. If technique, bar speed or repetition quality drops sharply, add time before the next set. When density or conditioning is the intended challenge, a shorter interval may be deliberate. Saving a preset makes the timing context repeatable without pretending that every exercise needs the same recovery.

Workout Rest Timer FAQ

How long should I rest for strength training?

Heavy or technically demanding work often benefits from several minutes of rest. Start within a broad 2–5 minute range, then adjust to preserve repetition quality, force, bracing and safe technique on the next set.

Is 60 seconds best for muscle growth?

No. Sixty seconds is one possible interval, not a universal optimum. If short rest causes a large loss of repetitions, load or technique, a longer interval may better support useful training volume and consistent set quality.

Should I use shorter rest to make a workout harder?

Only when greater density or conditioning is part of the programme. Making a session feel harder can also reduce force, repetitions and technical quality, so the interval should serve the training goal rather than discomfort alone.

Can I use supersets instead of resting?

Yes, but exercise pairing matters. Alternating unrelated muscle groups can preserve local recovery better than pairing movements that compete for the same muscles. Track the pairing and interval when comparing performance between sessions.

Will the timer stay accurate in the background?

ToolBullet recalculates remaining time from a target timestamp when the page resumes, but browsers may delay sound, vibration and visual updates while a tab or device is suspended or locked. It is a training aid, not official timing equipment.
